Kimberly Enjoying a Day Out in the Park
Kimberly McRae was born on February 26, 1970, in Hartford, Connecticut. She made her newspaper debut that same day when her father, a local college basketball star, was seen giving the peace sign as he first received the news of her birth during the half time announcement.
Kimberly's writing career took flight when she became a journalist for her high school newspaper. This experience opened her eyes up to a love of writing. She often spent time writing poems during her youth. For several years, she put her love of writing aside to develop her analytic and technical abilities while working with computers and electronics.
In 2001, Kimberly returned to her true love of writing and began working on her first novel which has not been published. Since that time she has begun work on a few different writing projects including screenplays, short stories, and additional novels.
All of her writing works would take a back seat as God began to lay a burden on her heart to write a novel about a young girl in Uganda. The book titled
Captive
would prove to be the most difficult work of fiction for her to write because of the emotional nature of the book which is based on current events.
God place another burden on Kimberly's heart to write Christian non-fiction. With each written work she diligently seeks the Lord's direction and considers these writings to be His writings and hopes they will be a blessing to all of His children and those that seek Him.
Kimberly enjoys spending time with her family in the Southeast along with their two cats and Rottweiler.
In 2005, Kimberly saw an advertisement for the
One Campaign
. Her heart was touched by the children and families in Africa and around the world that were in need of aid. She often prayed about how she could use her "one voice" to try to raise awareness.
Kimberly's heart has been tugged towards Africa ever since. From Ethopia to Uganda to Sierra Leone to Darfur to South Africa the issues have weighed heavily. Lacking the financial resources to make a big difference to groups that are supporting hunger aid, medical aid, and refugee assistance, she sought God's direction in how she could make a difference. She thought that maybe she could write a book but dismissed the idea. She came up with two separate book ideas but a burden to write
Captive
would continue to weigh on her. She continued to dismiss the idea as maybe one of her own making but the Lord laid the burden on her heart and continued to do so until she listened.
Kimberly has no delusions of granduer. She knows that she is merely a small voice in front of a large audience. She does not consider herself a great novelist merely someone who loves to write. She just knows that if her writing reaches one person, who then reaches another, and so on then it has served its purpose.
In January of 1998, Kimberly began wondering whether or not what she believed in was the truth.
She started praying the only prayer she knew how to pray, "If there is a God out there, please show me."
She thought that maybe the answer was in the Bible but not having a Christian upbringing she got confused by the various Bible versions.
In June of 1998, she saw her co-worker, now her husband, reading his Bible at work and asked him what kind of Bible she should buy.
He directed her to the King James Bible and recommended some reading to her. Unable to find her answer she kept returning to him asking him for another book to read in the Bible. After 3 months of reading and 8 months of God dealing with Kimberly she found her answer while reading Romans.
She knew that beyond a shadow of a doubt that Christ died on the cross for her sins and that she needed Him in order to get to Heaven. On August 31, 1998, she repented and asked the Lord to forgive her and become her personal Lord and Savior. She is truly thankful for her husband's courage to read his Bible and witness to her at work.
Have you ever wondered if what you believe in is the truth?
Are you searching for the truth but cannot seem to find it?
